Expectations for Students
We believe your choice of accommodation is important to your success in Canada. Students who choose Homestay must complete an application form and must be willing to commit to a minimum of three months stay in Homestay. Before arrival at CultureWorks, in addition to the one-month tuition deposit, you will be required to pay for twelve weeks of Homestay ($2,325.00 - Canadian). Should you decide to move out before the three months is over, you will not receive a refund. At the end of three months you can stay for a further three months, or move out on your own.
Homestay placements are limited, so it is suggested that you apply for homestay at the same time that you apply for the CultureWorks program.
Our Homestay families are chosen based on a written application and a lengthy interview process. We select people who are excited about welcoming you as a member of their family.
Some of our Homestay families are close to the school and some are not. We believe the quality of the family is more important than the distance to the school.
Your family will provide 3 meals a day. It is expected that you will assist the family in preparing your breakfast and lunch. You may also be expected to assist the family with daily chores, especially keeping your own bedroom clean.
Many of Homestay families in Canada have bedrooms in the basement. It is possible that your Homestay may have a bedroom in the basement for you. If you cannot accept a basement bedroom, CultureWorks may not be able to arrange a Homestay.
