Confidentiality and Privacy Policy
Collection of Student Personal Information
CultureWorks privacy policy is governed by the Department of Justice’s Privacy Act.
CultureWorks will only collect personal information about a student for the purposes of admission, registration, and providing services. The information will be collected directly from the student or from an agent representative who is acting on the student's behalf.
This information will be maintained in paper format in the student's file as well as electronically on the student records system StudentWorks.
The permanent retention of student records is required for administrative purposes.
Security of Student Personal Information
CultureWorks will protect personal information by making reasonable security arrangements to prevent the risk of unauthorized access. Offices in which files are stored will be locked each evening and at each point during the day when the office is unoccupied.
No private information will be given by telephone. Where the caller is not personally known, the name of the caller and the telephone number shall be taken and the call returned. If there are any doubts as to the authenticity of the caller or the request, information is not released.
CultureWorks team members responsible for records pertaining to students (Student Services, Financial Services, Housing Services) are responsible for ensuring their total confidentiality, and will release no information from these files to unauthorized individuals.
Students who appear on the website or in print material are asked to sign a form consenting to the release of photos, testimonials, and/or videos.
Release of Academic Records
Official transcripts are issued upon the request of the student, are printed on CultureWorks letterhead, and are stamped with the corporate seal. Students have the right to inspect their official record and are entitled to an explanation of any information on it.
Disclosure of any information to parents, educational institutions or other agencies must be authorized in writing by the student.
